Tax dollars no longer provide our community with the level of medical service we once took for granted (i.e. A small Hospital and Emergency Room). More critically, we were losing doctors and by April 2009 would have had no local physicians for our area - Population 10,000! People having to travel out-of-town for medical services would be detrimental to local business and the overall health of our community. To address this critical situation the Haugen Community Healthcare Society (HCHS) was formed in early 2008 with an indispensible administrative partnership with the Kindale Developmental Association. HCHS is now registered as a Charitable Organization with Canada Revenue Agency.
 
The case for providing Armstrong - Spallumcheen with a group practice facility is founded on the premise that "local, timely healthcare is essential to everyone's well-being". A community owned facility that attracts and retains doctors and other integrated healthcare services is not only an investment in our community but also a significant legacy for our children.
